Role: Product Lead
Problem Statement
Managers are often pressed for time, which makes it tough to plan an effective interview strategy.
This can lead to challenges like inconsistent evaluations or feeling unprepared to fairly assess candidates.
Goal Statement
Build a tool that will help managers take a strategic, structured approach to hiring.
They’ll be able to easily create position profiles, customized question lists and interview scorecards, so they can focus on what matters most.

Competitive Analysis
To better understand the market, I dove into a detailed analysis of key competitors. I looked closely at their value propositions, strengths, weaknesses, product offerings, and what gave them a competitive edge.
As a result, I obtained a clear picture of the market landscape and helped shape a strong strategy to make our product stand out, addressing gaps and solving unmet user needs.

PRODUCT DEFINITION
Value Proposition Canvas
I concentrated on uncovering the key tasks customers aim to accomplish (Jobs-to-be-Done), the challenges they face along the way, and the benefits they gain when they succeed.
This process gave me valuable insights into their motivations and goals, helping me understand what they need, what’s holding them back, and what success looks like to them.
User Persona
Based on the information gathered from the previous steps, I created an interviewer persona that would serve as a representation of the ideal user for the application.
By personifying the ideal user, I could empathize with their unique experiences and visualize how they would interact with the application. This in-depth understanding of their goals and pain points allowed me to tailor the features, functionality, and user experience of the application to better meet their needs.
High-Level App Flow
After looking closely at the needs and challenges faced by both interviewers and candidates, I mapped out the key steps in their journeys. Creating this visual overview gave me a clear, big-picture understanding of the entire recruitment process.

MVP
User Flows
I designed clear and detailed user flows to visually map out the journey users take at each stage of the recruitment process, from initial setup to final evaluations.
Wireframes
My next step was to dive deeper into the details by designing high-fidelity wireframes for the key screens of the user flows. These detailed wireframes were crafted to clearly define the visual elements, interactions, and overall user interface.
They provided a clear and realistic preview of how the app would function, allowing stakeholders to visualize both its appearance and behavior.
UI Design & Prototype
Building on the wireframes, I designed an interface that’s simple, intuitive, and easy to navigate. By adopting a clean design aesthetic, I aimed to create a visually pleasing interface that would enhance usability and promote user engagement.
User Testing
Once the static prototype was ready, I did an usability testing with 5 representative users via Zoom. They had 2 important tasks to complete: build an interview and evaluate candidates.
They were able to navigate through the app fairly easy and gave the following feedback:
In the interview builder, allow users to reorder selected questions and save sets.
Add colors for tags in order to scan candidates easier.
Improve the navigation when going through candidates answers.
When evaluating a candidate, allow managers to add an overall impression.
Next Steps
In order to enhance this product further, here are some of the next steps to consider:
Expand the predefined list of questions and industries for interviews.
Improve the AI Report for interviewers.
Improve the overall user experience based on further user feedback.
Key Learnings
We learned that finding the right balance between automation and human input is key.
While automation made things easier, it was just as important to give managers the tools to stay in control and make informed choices. When evaluating candidates, human factor is also very important.
